ABOUT

Maya Janae Chaffin is a senior Television and Film major, Theatre Arts minor attending Howard University. Throughout Chaffin's life, God has called her to serve Him in both ministry and the arts.

MINISTRY

As a pastor's granddaughter, Chaffin was always involved in church. However, it wasn't until the COVID-19 pandemic where she began to develop her own personal relationship with God that wasn't dependent on the faith of her family. Chaffin served as the Youth Director at Faith Ministries Church, a leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and founded b.o.l.d.ministries - an online movement for young followers of Jesus. With a heart for this generation, Janae now continues her ministry at Howard University as the Team Director of Delight Ministries and an intern at The District Church.

Maya Janae is the author of How to Survive As A Christian Teenager: 101 Daily Devotionals to Help You Thrive As A Young Followers of Jesus. This book features daily lessons as she reflects on her own personal experiences and survival tactics as a young believer.

FILM & THEATRE

Chaffin has always had a passion for the creative arts ever since she was a little girl. Since then, she loves being able to tell true and authentic stories through the lens of a camera or the performance on a stage.

This summer, Chaffin will be interning with The District Church in the media department where she will learn what it means to express creativity in a ministry setting. In previous years, she has worked for Columbus Children's Theatre, WOSU Public Media, Kinopicz American, a variety senior thesis projects, and has also created her own short films. Chaffin plans to pursue directing and has a dream of owning a faith-based film studio or theatre production company.
